Managing Dropdown Menu Items

This screen allows for Pop-Up Menu items to be added, modified and deleted.

After a menu has been created, it can be attached to an image or text from the drop down list when creating a standard link.

To add, modify or remove a menu item follow the steps below...

1. Click on the 'Design' menu item from the tool bar. A drop down menu will then appear.

2. Position your mouse pointer over the 'Pop Up Menus' menu item; a sub-menu will then be displayed.

3. Click on the 'Manage Menu Items' menu item to open the 'Manage Menu Items' dialog window.

If there are no menu items present then do the following...

1. In the 'Name' text field enter the name of the menu item you want to create.

2. In the URL text field either enter the URL to the page you want to display when the menu item is clicked, or select one from the URL drop down list if you are wanting to link to a page within your site.

3. Click the 'New Menu' button. A new menu item will appear using the details from what you have entered.

Adding a new menu...

1. Click the 'New Menu' button. A new menu item will appear using the details from the last top level menu selected.

2. Select the menu item you have just created by clicking on it.

3. Change the name of the menu item by changing the text in the 'Name' text field.

4. Change the URL of the menu item by changing the URL or selecting one from the URL drop down list.

Adding a new sub menu...

1. Select the menu item where you want to create a sub menu by clicking on it.

2. Click the 'Add Child' button. A new menu item will appear using the details from the selected main menu item.

3. Select the sub-menu item you have just created by clicking on it.

4. Change the name of the menu item by changing the text in the 'Name' text field.

5. Change the URL of the menu item by changing the URL or selecting one from the URL drop down list.

Modify an existing menu item...

1. Select the menu item you wish to change by clicking on it.

2. Change the name of the menu item by changing the text in the 'Name' text field.

3. Change the URL of the menu item by changing the URL or selecting one from the URL drop down list.

Deleting a menu item...

1. To delete a menu item, select the menu item you want to delete.

2. Click the 'Delete' button to remove the menu item and any sub menu items.

3. Note: Deleting a main menu item will also delete any child or sub menu items that belong to it.

Changing the positions of menu items...

1. To change the position of a menu item, select the menu item to be repositioned.

2. To move the menu item up, click the button containing the up arrow to move the item up one position.

3. To move the menu item down, click the button containing the down arrow to move the item up one position.

Once you have finished managing menu items click the 'Apply' button to save your changes.

Note:

When deleting a menu item, be sure to remove the reference to the menu item from all templates first. The menus are not linked to any dynamic navigation files you may have on your documents.
