Editor - Insert Menu

Hyperlinks

Hyperlinks can link to an email address, another page of your website or to a page from an external website.

Hyperlinking internal or external webpages

Steps to create a hyperlink:

  1. Highlight the text that you want a link attached to.
  2. Select the 'Insert' option from the menu bar at the top of the editor window. A drop down menu will appear.
  3. Select 'LINK..' to open 'INSERT LINK' dialog window (above image). Alternatively, select link icon on the top left toolbar.
  4. If you are linking to an external website enter the full URL in the 'URL' text field. To link to another page on the current website skip the 'URL' text field, instead scroll through 'Document' drop down menu to find the desired page.
  5. Select a target window from the following three options:
  • Current

Opens link in another tab of the same browser window (default).

  • New

Opens link in another browser window.

  • Popup

Opens link in a popup window that has customisable properties. Be aware that some browsers block popups.

   6.  Select 'OK' to save changes.

Hyperlinking email addresses

Steps to create an email link:

  1. Highlight the text (e.g. Name) that you want an email address attached to.
  2. Select the 'Insert' option from the menu bar at the top of the editor window. A drop down menu will appear.
  3. Select 'LINK..' to open 'INSERT LINK' dialog window (above image). Alternatively, select link icon on the top left toolbar.
  4. In the 'URL' text field enter in "mailto:" and the email address, with no spaces in-between.

For example: mailto:info@e-xpert.co.nz

   5.  Select 'OK' to save changes.

Note

Pages found under 'Document' drop down menu are listed alphabetically, in order of section. All automatically generated pages will appear in the 'ACCESSORIES' Section at the bottom of list.

Alt Tag or alternative text improves accessibility when linking images.

'Monitor external URL' option will check to see if a webpage from an external website link is inactive.
