Promote a Folder to a Section

Folders and sections are used to contain and group your documents together in order to define the structure of your website.

Folders are more commonly used than sections, and provide the features needed to build any standard area of your website.

Sections are required when the area of the site requires enhanced properties such as user access restriction, templates and style sheets that differ from the rest of the site, email forms, search forms, event streams and more.

In the scenario that you need to add enhanced properties to your folder, you'll need to promote it to a section.

    To promote a folder to a section:

    1. From the folder tree on the left, select the folder that you want to promote.
    2. Click the 'FOLDERS' tab from the tool bar at the top of your MoST page. A drop-down menu will appear.
    3. Click 'PROMOTE TO SECTION' to open 'PROMOTE FOLDER TO SECTION' dialog window (above image).
    4. Click 'Yes' to promote to section.
    Note

    A folder cannot be promoted if a section with the same name already exists.

    You must have the appropriate permission to make these changes.
