Discussion Groups

Edit Pages

Each edit page option lets you enter in the text that appears at the top of the associated page. Text might include instructions, disclaimers, introductions etc.

Do not remove the text from the editor window as this is where dynamic content will display.

What each option means:

Topic List Page: Here you enter text that will appear above the main discussion topic list.

As this is where all topics are listed, you may wish to provide an invitation to participate or basic rules of the discussion forum.

Add Topic Page: Here you enter text that will appear at the top of the ‘Add Topic’ page where users can create a new topic.

This is only necessary if you have enabled the 'Allow New Topics' option in Discussion Group Settings.

Thread Details Page: Here you enter text that will appear at the top of a discussion topic thread page - This is the page that the visitor is taken to once they have selected a specific discussion topic on the topic list page.

This is not necessary if you have enabled the ‘Multi-threaded’ option in Discussion Group Settings.

Reply Page: Here you enter text that will appear at the top of the Reply page, which will contain a response form that visitors fill out when they want to contribute to a discussion. You may want to outline any important instructions in this space.

The reply option will not be available to visitors if the discussion group has expired.

Topic Tracking Page: Here you enter text that will appear at the top of the discussion group tracking page. Topic tracking allows a visitor to opt to receive an email if that topic has had a response.

This is only necessary if you have enabled the 'Allow Topic Tracking' option in Discussion Group Settings.

Note

To test and enable the discussion forum on your website you will need to create a link on your website, leading to the ‘Discussion Group Topics’ URL which appears under the 'ACCESSORIES' heading in the link document dropdown menu.

Ideally the first discussion topic will be created in the administration area of MoST.
